What would you do if a spaceship from another galaxy crashed in your rural Minnesota town? YOU’D WRITE AND PERFORM A MUSICAL PAGEANT ABOUT IT!
In COLD PLANET WARM HEART, the women of the Upper Midwest Center for Universal Peace are staging the story of the greatest event in their history: the arrival of a being from another galaxy and the barista who befriended them. It’s a warm-hearted, family-friendly science fiction tale that explores themes of immigration, tolerance, and the need to discover and follow our heart’s desire.
Casting: 5 singer/actors: NON-UNION, $800 STIPEND

Kirsten doubles with
SIGNE, (she/her), 16-18: a high school student
4. IFEDE “IFE” ADEYEME, (she/her), 55-65: a Yoruba immigrant, a widow who owns Lagos
Coffee Shop, and is Andy’s boss
Ifede doubles with
COACH, (he/him), 45-60: the high school hockey coach
5. MRS. NELSON, (she/her), 70-80: President of the Mighty Fortress Lutheran Church Council
Mrs. Nelson doubles with
JEROME K. JEROME, (he/his), 45-55: a dedicated civil servant who is an agent for ICE
(Immigration and Customs Enforcement)
6.* WUBU, a visitor from the stars
Wubu doubles with
ASHLEY OLSON, (she/her), 30s: a townsperson who appears in the prologue and epilogue

All roles in this show sing in soprano, mezzo, or alto (high, medium, low women’s voice). Some roles could include some lower notes if the singer has them. Roles are listed with pronouns for the sake of guiding your audition material choices.
