This website is, of course, about all things Fortune's Fool. Those of you who are big fans just might want to know about other projects that our co-artistic directors, Daniel Pinkerton and Ariel Pinkerton, are doing with other artists and/or other companies. Because they bring a little bit of Fortune's Foolishness to everything they do.
During the pandemic, Ariel has created three shows for Fortune's Fool . . . but that's not all! In early 2020, Ariel went to the the Tucson Fringe Festival with her solo storytelling show, Died in a Trailer Park, Woke Up a Mermaid. During the pandemic, the Cincinnati Fringe Festival also presented a the show virtually. In 2022, she has designed lighting for Graceful Monsters and Freshwater Theatre. She will appear in Perfect Arrangement at Theatre in the Round in June 2022, design lighting and appear in Lincoln's Children at Freshwater Theatre in September 2022, return to the Tucson Fringe with another storytelling show, A Mermaid in Narnia (on LSD) in early 2023, and appear in Tourist Trap, a coproduction between Ghoulish Delights and Mermaid Productions, in summer of 2023. Whew!
Daniel writes musicals. Holy crap, do they take a loooong time to develop! His last one, The Lady with a Lap Dog (music by Robert Elhai) was given its world premiere in 2017 by Fortune's Fool. He wrote a story for our production of To Breed, or Not to Breed in 2020 and performed it with Ariel. This was the first time the father/daughter duo appeared onstage together. Now Daniel is working on a new musical, Cold Planet Warm Heart (music by Robert Elhai), for which he was awarded a Minnesota State Arts Board Individual Artist Grant to fund a 2022 workshop. Look for a full production from Fortune's Fool in 2023!
